The Santos has its origins in 1904 when Louis Cartier, grandson of the company’s founder, Louis-Francois, created a watch specifically for his friend, the renowned Brazilian aviator, Alberto Santos Dumont. Requiring a timepiece that was robust, legible and more accessible than a cumbersome pocket watch, Dumont consulted his friend who designed the Santos, now a distinctive and timeless classic with its 6-screw bezel and square case. First commercially produced in 1911, it has been a mainstay in Cartier’s catalogue ever since. This Cartier Santos WSSA0009 has a Silver Roman Numeral dial and a Bracelet strap.
