This vintage example of one of history's greatest horological legends was first sold almost half a century ago. The Rolex GMT Master was a very important pioneer of the second time zone complication, which is today less unusual. First released in the early 1950s, it was among the first Rolex sports watches aimed at professionals that would go on to become truly iconic. The post-war era saw a huge expansion in international flights spanning several time zones, and the GMT idea was to allow pilots to negotiate this shrinking world with an additional hour hand, and a 24 hour bezel that indicated night and day with its unmistakeable “Pepsi” colours. This Rolex GMT Master 1675 has a Black dial and a Bracelet strap. Due to age, this Rolex may not fall within our typical expected tolerances for timekeeping, and is no longer suitable for use in wet environments or submersion in water. In the interests of preserving original features, utmost care has been taken to sympathetically restore this watch. It has also been referenced against technical documents and manufacturer records where available to ensure authenticity and a clean history. To maintain the manufacturer’s warranty on this watch, it has not been polished in our service centre.
