Tag Heuer strengthened its motor racing links with the creation of the Monaco—named after the famous Formula One race in the state—in 1969. A product of founder Jack Heuer’s desire to create something “out-of-the-box”, it was the first of its shape to guarantee waterproofness. With this in mind, Jack Heuer was immediately drawn to the case and negotiated exclusive rights to this design with designer Erwin Piquerez, which he eventually trademarked. There are only 1,000 pieces of this limited-edition Monaco which celebrates Tag Heuer’s relationship with the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco.
